This morning Cruz was laughing away at something and I noticed something in his mouth. So once I got him to open his mouth again for me I realized what it was, he had cut his first tooth! I caught the picture of him below and you can see it pretty good on the close up. He never fussed or ran a fever or anything so hopefully he's one of those babies that you don't know when they are getting teeth. 6 more days till we go to Nebraska!!!

Hello everyone! I haven't posted pictures in awhile so here's a few from the last couple of days. Things here have been going good for us. The weather has been beautiful so we've been trying to be outside as much as possible, Cruz loves it outside. Cruz has mastered holding his bottle all by himself and is now learning how to drink out of a sippy cup! He still hasn't cut any teeth and there's no sign of any yet so maybe it will be another month or so before we start that. And no, he's still not crawling. He'll push himself backwards but for the most part he'd rather just sit and play all day. Lately he's become quite the jabber box and he's also starting to show more and more of his little temper. He'll definitely let you know if he doesn't like something!
Jake has internet in his room over in Iraq so we've been talking for about a half hour each night on the webcam. I'm not sure Cruz knows that it's Jake on the computer screen but he definitely knows his voice. Jake is still tyring to get settled over there but for the most part he seems to be doing ok.
That's about all that is new with us. Cruz & I will be back in Nebraska next Thursday, the 2nd, through the 13th so hopefully we'll get a chance to see a lot of you!

6 month check up
Cruz had his 6 month check up this morning. The doctor said everything looks good with him. He's doing all the things a 6 month old should be doing; sitting up, babbling, raking his toys towards him, etc.:) He weighed 17lbs and 13oz which put him in the 50th percentile for his weight and he was 27 inches tall which put him in the 75th percentile for his height. They also measured his head and it was only 16.7 inches so his head is only in the 25th percentile. So maybe Cruz won't end up with his daddy's head ha!, (Jake thinks his head is huge, which it's not but, it's not tiny either:)) Jake has the day off today since he's leaving tomorrow so we're gonna just hang out all day at home together. He hasn't even started packing, way to wait till the last minute right, so I guess he'll be packing and getting his stuff ready to go most of the day. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fun at the Park
Well Cruz is 6 months old today. We have his check up tomorrow so I'll write more tomorrow on how that goes. Jake got off work early today so we decided to take Cruz to the park for the first time. He enjoyed the swing but really didn't know what to think of it yet. Give it another 6 months and I'm sure he'll love the park:) Here's a few picture of him at the park and then the last one was of him sitting in our front yard this evening watching Jake mow. He was pretty engrossed in watching the mower! Can you believe he still has those blue eyes? Jake and I swear he's not our kid since we both have dark brown eyes, plus his hair is coming in blonde so he's definitely not our kid if he's a blondie! Just Kidding:)

Here are a few photos and videos from the past week. The photos and video of him eating was from yesterday, he decided he wanted to start grabbing the spoon so I let him and wow what a mess! Of course he was eating prunes, the messiest thing possible, but o well. I don't think he's quite ready to feed himself yet, but he had fun doing it.:)
The second video is of him crawling backwards. I caught a little bit of it on tape, hopefully he'll start doing it more often so I can record more of it.
And the last video is of him jabbering away in his crib. He always has such a serious little talk but it's so cute.
Anyways...Cruz is feeling better but still has a cough and a runny nose. He has his 6 month check up on Friday so hopefully it will be gone by then or the doctor will do something else for him. Jake still doesn't have a for sure date for when he leaves for Iraq but we know it's gonna be in the next week sometime. It's coming way too fast! Until next time...

Happy Labor Day!
Well we ended up spending 4 hours in the ER last night. Cruz wasn't getting better and Jake and I never thought his cough sounded like croup from the beginning so we decided we'd take him back in last night. We took him to an ER out in town instead of the one on base and thank goodness we did. They couldn't believe the doctor on base treated him for croup because there was no way he had croup. They did a chest x-ray on him and he had a lot of inflammation on his lungs. He ended up having a bad upper respiratory infection with a little case of pneumonia. Scary to think he it would have just kept getting worse if we wouldn't of brought him in because he wasn't getting treated right.
Cruz slept through the night last night finally and today he seems to be feeling better. He still has his cough but doesn't seem as fussy.
We got Cruz a new carseat so we went for a short drive today so we could see how he liked it. He looks so big not being in his infant carseat! Here's a few pictures and then a picture of him this morning being his smiley self.
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day!!!
