Surgery

We went to the eye doctor this morning for Cruz and he's scheduled to have surgery on June 11th. The doctor said there is a duct in his nose that has been blocked since he was born. Both of his tear ducts should run down to this duct in his nose so since it's blocked he always has watery eyes and gunk in them because it has no where else to go besides out the eyes. 90% of babies are born with this but most of them open up on their own by the time they are 2 months old. He said the surgery is really quick, I can be back in the room when they put him under to keep him calm and then the procedure only takes 15 minutes and we can go right back in the room with him for recovery. We'll keep everyone posted once it gets closer to June.

Enjoying The Sunshine

We've had a couple really nice days here so we've spent a lot of time outside and we even let Cruz try out his new pool. On Friday afternoon we spent the afternoon at Andrea's house, Eve, Elsa and Cruz played in the pool and with the water table. Then Saturday was beautiful so Jake & I did lots of yard work and later relaxed watching Cruz play in his pool. He took about 4 steps in a row on Saturday, we keep working with him all the time but he has to be distracted by the dog or something to get him to walk. I guess if he thinks about it too much he just can't do it ha! The last video we recorded trying to see if he'd walk but all he did was just stand and watch the dogs, no steps on video yet!

We go to the eye doctor for Cruz on Tuesday so they can set up surgery to open his tear duct. I can't wait to have a kid that doesn't have junk in his eyes all the time and his eye doesn't water constantly when he's in the sun! We'll let everyone know when the actual surgery is gonna be.

Katie & Makenna's Visit

We had a great visit with Katie & Makenna the last few days. We went to the aquarium, they came to story time with us at the library, we went to the beach, we went to a a farm that had an easter egg hunt for the kids along with a bunch of animals for them to look at and pet, and then today we got headed to Portrait Innovations to get their pictures taken together and to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap at the mall. We managed to get one decent picture of the two of them together out of all the pictures they took at Portrait Innovation. They could never both smile, look at the camera or be happy at the same time ha! O well, at least we got one. Cruz definitely enjoyed having Makenna around, I can't wait to be back in Nebraska when he can be around his cousins all the time! Here's some photos and a couple videos from their visit...

1 year checkup

Cruz had his one year check up today. He weighs 23lbs 10oz and is in the 50th percentile for his weight. He was also 31 inches so he's in the 80th percentile for his height. We're going to go see a specialist now for his eyes. Ever since he was born they water all the time and always have junk in them so they may have to do a procedure to open up his tear ducts. Other then that all is well!

I haven't posted any pictures for awhile so I thought I'd post some quick this morning. Tucker and Cruz have really became buds lately. Tucker lets Cruz crawl all over him and pet him, which ends up more like hitting him, and Tucker just lays there and takes it. Cruz tries so hard to say Tucker but it just doesn't come out right. I'm sure it won't be long. Cruz still isn't walking. My sister and niece get here today so maybe my sister can get him to walk. He's so stubborn! I'll have more pictures next week of Katie & Makenna's visit, we can't wait to see them! O and the last picture of the back of his head is just to show that he is actually getting hair! Finally!!! He definitely has my curly hair right now, we'll see if it stays that way.
